Deli Fresh Cafe

Was travelling from Port Campbell to Halls Gap and distance wise this was the perfect place to stop for some grub :-) and so pleased we did the bacon and egg in a soft roll was delicious as was the cappuccino. Set at the front of a supermarket, the owner Peter was such a lovely guy to speak to and listen to his stories of local activities and even Lewis Carroll. Thoroughly recommended on all counts. Easy parking right outside.

Stopped over while travelling to Colac, had brunch and wasn't disappointed. The brekky burger was delicious. Definitely recommended while travelling via Mortlake. Thank you for your hospitality and special thanks for the scrambled egg for our little one.

The owner is a really friendly and knowledgeable person about the region. We always come here for a quick bite to eat and ice cream when we are passing through. Mortlake is an interesting place to stop by and visit, and the owners here reflect great vision for the town's future.

Fantastic! Was walking past looking for late lunch early dinner and owner was closing up. He was very welcoming to his contemporary cafe come supermarket and soon were enjoying a great coffee and burgers that were both awesome! Wonderful vegetarian burger with excellant coffee just like some best cafes in melbourne. Great host and good sitting area.

From the outside, Deli Fresh Cafe looks like your average countryside independent supermarket. Once you go inside, it seems underwhelming with a limited choice of products (though there were an interesting range of local products like local jams) and curiously empty shelves, perhaps the result of having two supermarkets in a small town. However, the real gem is hidden in the back of the store, where the deli counter is. As well as having a small range of deli products (some nice looking cheeses), the counter serves handmade burgers and sandwiches. There is a great range of burgers, and the service is super friendly. I had a huge burger, The Midnight, which was great value with pretty much double everything. The beef patties were noticeably fresh and very good quality. At the suggestion of the guy who was running the store, we went down to the nearby park which has a small lake, and ate our burgers looking at the nice view there.

The service is amazing, the owner was so lovely and up for a chat and was extremely welcoming. Between that and the amazing burger I’ll definitely be back! Great service you don’t get often.
